BEST PROTEIN BARS FOR HEALTH AND WEIGHT LOSS | taste test and review

hi guys it’s Bailey and today I’m going
to be teaching you guys what to look for in a protein bar okay so over here in
Australia we don’t get all the cool like Health and Wellness snack bars and
everything so what I do is I get my mom to send me different protein bars and
snacks and health products here’s my little package oh my god I’m so excited
about that so what I’m going to do is show you guys today exactly what to look
for and then I’ll show you my favorite and why they’re perfect first things
first the most important thing to me is the quality of the protein bars so the
ingredient if I can’t read all of the ingredients if I don’t know what all of
them are then I’m not gonna eat it so let’s talk about how much protein first
of all because it is a protein bar we want it to have at least 15 grams of
protein because that’s what’s going to feed your muscles and keep you satisfied
I prefer our plant-based protein just because I have a harder time whenever I
eat much dairy my skin breaks out and I also think a lot of times the whey
protein that people put in protein bars is like not organic or its modified or
it’s not the best quality so you really want to make sure it’s good quality also
soy if it’s not organic soy or non-gmo soy it’s not really great for us I like
to look for like a pea protein or a plant-based protein for my protein bars
you do want a protein bar with a little bit of fat in it anywhere from 5 to 10
grams of fat that’s what’s gonna help to slow down the absorption of the bar and
keep you fuller for a longer amount of time you don’t want to eat it and then
be like oh actually that bar just made me hungrier and then let’s talk about
the carbs so for your carbohydrates you want to keep the net carbs low so at
around 10 grams of carbs just otherwise it might spike your blood sugar too much
now what I mean by net carbs is the total amount of carbs – the fiber fiber
is like the best superfood if you’re looking to lose weight
if you’re looking to maintain your weight you need to be eating lots of
fiber fiber is what stretches your stomach which is what’s going to send a
signal to our brain that you know we’re full we can stop eating and it also
lowers the amount of total carbohydrates your body digests and ideally for your
protein bars you want it to be max 250 calories for a snack ideally more around
the 200 mark otherwise it’s a meal like some of these protein bars these days
have like 350 calories do you know how much food you could eat for 350 calories
you could have 2 eggs half an avocado and a piece of toast that’s gonna keep
you full a lot longer there’s so many of these on the market
and some of them are super shady like the ingredients I would just not put
them in my body so many of these protein bars have artificial sweeteners which
you want to like run and hide from it’s just like a bunch of chemicals basically
a lot of times too there’s something like agave which causes the most fat
storage of any other sugar or there’s like cane sugar and organic cane sugar
is still sugar you guys it doesn’t matter if you’ve slapped the word
organic on it it’s sugar ideally we want to keep the sugar low and something like
a stevia as a sweetener is amazing or a natural sugar like dates are still
pretty intense so I’m going to show you guys my protein bar collection
collection I’m gonna show you guys what protein bars I’ve gotten and why I
recommend that we’ll start with my number one pick which is the Sun warrior
protein bar and the flavor that I love is the salted caramel it has 19 grams of
protein which is perfect and it’s an organic plant-based protein source which
is really great all the ingredients are organic so that gets another big check
there’s 18 grams of fiber so these bars are going to keep you full for a really
long time there’s only three grams of sugar which is amazing and they use
stevia as the sweetener so that is incredible it’s like an all-natural zero
calorie sweetener and it’s 212 calories and I find that these bars are ones
where if I eat them like I’m actually satisfied and
actually full and have lots of energy for like a few hours after I have one
you can get your hands on these definitely do and like these aren’t
sponsored at all these reviews are honestly just 100% my own alright and
Sunwarrior even though I’ve tasted these I’ll show you guys what it looks like so
there is the salted caramel swirl mmm it’s so good I love these bars so much
like I actually have cravings for them next up are the raw red bars and my mom
just sent me these ones I actually haven’t tried them so I’m really excited
too because it’s peanut butter and like who doesn’t love peanut butter so the
protein is 11 grams of protein which is a little bit lower than I would
recommend but that’s still really good and it is a vegan plant-based protein so
this is a really great option the fat is right around 11 grams because it is a
nut base that’s to be expected there’s 13 grams of fiber so that’s amazing like
over 10 grams of fiber is so good so this is I can already tell going to be
really filling as a snack it’s also gluten-free non-gmo which is so good so
a lot of organic ingredients nothing artificial I’m so on board with these
bars already only 3 grams of sugar which is amazing and this raw rep one has 180
calories so again it’s under that 200 calorie mark which is great for a snack
and let’s do a taste test I’m like right into it oh my god that is so good you
guys it reminds me of like a healthy O’Henry bar you’re gonna be telling my
mom to send me more of these next up is the R X bar so these ones are so popular
and I’ve never tried them they’re not vegan or plant-based they do have egg
whites as the protein which I can see from the front I love how it has the
ingredients listed I think that’s really cute I think the packaging is really
cute too 12 grams of protein the protein comes
from the egg white so again a very clean source of protein they’re not organic
I can pronounce all the ingredients which is great the fat is 8 gram so it’s
perfect the total carbs is 24 grams and the
fiber is only 6 and there is a lot of sugar there’s 15 grams of sugar normally
I wouldn’t eat anything with like more than 10 grams of sugar there’s no added
sugar it’s just dates yeah just like a little bit higher in sugar but if you’re
not that concern like if you’re trying to lose weight this one might not be the
best one but if you want it as like a pre-workout energy snack you need that
little bit more sugar or carbs than go both go for it
like this isn’t one that I would probably have every single day but again
it is still like so much healthier than a lot of the ones that I’ve seen out
there and this one has 210 calories PS I’m filming these in the afternoon it’s
just pitch black because we’re having like a hurricane here in Australia whoo
okay so let’s your taste test obviously trying the peanut butter I’m a
peanut butter addict mmm oh my god so good mmm it’s like a really chewy
consistency so the taste is like 10 out of 10 but definitely on the sweeter side
like it tastes so much sweeter than the other bars I just tried another option
that I would say is like more like a number one like the Sun warrior bar
would be a no cow bar but I didn’t get any of those ones in the mail so all that being said like of course
you want to eat ones you love but there are better options out there so those
are the ones that I’ve recommended today if there are any specific bars that I
didn’t mention that you guys want me to review leave me a comment below and let
me know and if there are any that I need to try that I missed also leave me a
comment cuz I’ll do an order from my mom thank you guys so much for watching I
hope that helped and if you’re new to my channel please subscribe I post
nutrition tips just like this every single week I’ll see you soon

  1. Hope you found this video helpful! I have left all the info in the description xx
If you have any protein bars you want my opinion on leave me and comment below!

  2. What do you think about the Kind protein bars? I’m a big fan of the crunchy bars with whole nuts. Although, I think they are on the higher end of net carbs and fat

  3. Hi I know you live in AU, but you don't have an Australian accent. Are you American living in AU? I'm gonna try out the Sunwarrior bars, looks amazing.

  4. I was never able to get into energy bars. I tried dozens of different brands and eventually realized they'll never be that good lol. You should do a taste test series on this channel where you try different "health conscious" stuff. There's a brand of soda I found out about a couple days ago called Zevia. They sell a bunch of different sodas that have no sugar, sodium, or calories. They use stevia to sweeten the soda. It'd be cool if you did a review on some of their products and gave your opinion on if it tastes better or worse than a traditional soda like Coca-Cola.

  5. Hi awesome video! I want to try the sunwarrior bars for sure! I usually have RxBars on hand for when Im running around and they are soo good! but one thing I have noticed is that some protein bars are packed with sodium even the healthy ones.Whats your opinion on the grams of sodium on such a little snack? 🙂

  6. I’m addicted to the Raw Rev bars😋You should try baking them in the oven; that’s amazing, too👌

  7. Just tried my first Salted Caramel Sun Warrior bar yesterday and immediately ordered two boxes! Tastes awesome! I have been eating the RawRev Glo bars for awhile and they are also outstanding.

  8. I go to school and Im so tired after and have little energy I need something really easy to eat before going to the gym.
