Get to know the Activity app for Apple Watch— Apple Support

Win at life,
one day at a time, with the Activity app
on your Apple Watch and iPhone. Here’s how it works. Open the Activity app
on your Apple Watch to get a quick glimpse
of your Activity rings. The red Move ring tracks
all of your daily activity from biking to work
to dancing at a concert, or even walking outside
to get the mail. You can customize your Move goal
based on how active you are or how active you’d like to be. The green Exercise ring
shows how many minutes of brisk activity
you’ve completed. Whether you’re just moving
at a fast pace, or doing a specific workout
in the Workout app. You’ll close this ring
if you exercise for at least 30 minutes. The blue Stand ring motivates you to get up
throughout the day. If you’ve been sitting
for too long, your watch will nudge you
to stand up and move around. Do it at least one minute
every hour for 12 hours and you’ll be set. Want more details
about your daily activity? Scroll down to see how close you
are to meeting your daily goals and keep scrolling to see
how many steps you’ve taken. You can also firmly press
the display to check up
on your weekly progress or change your Move goal. This is the only goal
that you can adjust. Are you sharing your activity
with friends? Swipe left to check
their progress for the day. Firmly press the display
to sort your list of friends based on their daily activity. Tap a contact
to see their rings and scroll down
to challenge them to a little friendly
competition. From here, you can also send
a message to cheer them on. The Activity app syncs all this
information on your iPhone too and makes it easy
for you too look back at your activity history
to really track your progress. Let’s take a look. Open the Activity app on
your iPhone to see your rings. In the History tab,
tap the month on the upper-left to see a calendar
of your daily activity. Tap the Workouts tab to see all
the workouts you’ve completed and how many calories
you’ve burned. If you tap the Awards tab, you’ll get to see
the badges you’ve earned. Nice! There are a few ways
to earn an award. Did you win a challenge
against a friend? You get an award. Did you go on a hike
on Earth Day? You get a super special,
limited-edition award. Did you try a new workout or close your rings
for an entire week? Yep, you get an award,
plus some bragging rights. Some awards can be earned
multiple times, so get ready
to break your own record. Close your rings,
earn a shiny award, win at life. And keep track
with the Activity app on your Apple Watch and iPhone. For all the latest tips
and how-tos, subscribe to

  1. Why won’t the green exercise ring move UNLESS you are moving at a brisk pace? I walk on the treadmill everyday for 30 minutes but this is never recorded. Could this be changed?

  2. So much opportunity to take this to the next level. Just need to be prioritized.. You should incorporate more competition options, ability to communicate directly in the app vs having to send a text message, improve progress notification to create more visibility throughout the competition, a celebratory alert when there is a winner, notification that alerts you to how many days are left in the competition. Just to name a few ground level suggestions. This has great potential but I do not fell like I can totally leave my fitbit behind.

  3. Can I change my move goal daily? Something like on my active rest days hit 700 calories and training days 1,000 calories… or Is it recommended that it be weekly?

  4. Ik this video is for Apple Watch and I don’t have one, BUT REALLY WANT ONE. That isn’t what I am asking though, I was wondering what to do if IPhone 5S battery dies at 40%. Thank you!

  5. Is there a secret to getting the stand ring to consistently register stand time? Sometimes it tells me to stand when I just sat down. Even when I stand on cue for several minutes it doesn’t always give me credit for it. Is there a trick to it?

  6. I think I am beginning to understand this app. It’s not measuring 3 different things (activity, exercise, and standing). It’s measuring 3 levels of the same thing, movement. The exercise ring is intense movement, the activity ring measures moderate movement, and the stand ring measures light movement. The naming and order of the rings makes it a little confusing for us slow learners. 🙂

  7. How much movement is required each hour to get credit toward the stand goal? Does it require continuous movement?

  8. I kayak and don't seem to increase any of my rings? Also is there a trick to stair climbing so it records flights climbed? thanks.

  9. This annoying iwatch, keep changing the watch face, then you can not find how to restore. I should have donated the money to charity. This will teach me to use my money more wisely.

  10. I just treated myself to the Series 4, 44mm for my birthday.

    It's great, but:

    1. When you are gonna call, you cannot do anything else on the watch (unlike iPhone).

    2. No Camera and therefore No FaceTime.

    3. No Safari browser (Cannot surf the web)

    4. Not a lot of battery life

  11. can somebody help me? today is my first day with an apple watch and i walked 4.5 miles. however, it says i haven’t burned any calories at all. my blue and green ring are filled but my red is still at 0%?

  12. I’m on 1050cal move daily…all good, but I hate the thing that The exercise is stocked on 30mins 😂 wish I could readjust it on at least 60min.
I can only change the Move Goal 😶😐

  13. my watch is working QUITE ok i just got it today but i’m getting so pissed of when i turn it on it’s just the time and all i type in my passcode and it just KEEPS me on the home screen and i cant go on my apps SOMEONE JUST HELP

  14. I like how they show the iPhone X, even though most people don't own an iPhone X because it is so expensive
    lol

  15. Hi Apple, wondering how I download the activity app, I’ve got a new IPhone 7 and wondering how I can get the activity app. Does it auto install when I get an Apple Watch? Or can I get it without the watch?

  16. Apple this is changing lives. Thank you to the Dev team for the hard work on this great software. I am looking forward to the future of Apple Health. I believe this will have a massive impact on humanity and most people dont fully see the potential here yet. I was an Iphone user since a young kid, …i had the first Iphone all the way to the 5c… but then switched to Android around 2010. The IphoneX is the first iphone I have purchased in many years and its by far the best one. I dont see myself ever going back to Android again. Apple has its eco system on point. From hardware to software its just simply an amazing experience.

  17. I opened my Apple Store on my IPhone but it keeps telling me its unavailable. Is there somewhere I can go to fix this?

  18. I never understood why we can’t adjust our exercise or stand goal after our initial preference selection when first setting up the watch? Does anyone know why this is the case?

  19. Once the activity app lets me track my runs more in-depth like Nike and Strava then I’ll use it as my main app. It is lacking far too much to use as my daily.

  20. My mom got me an S4 for christmas and know I feel like I’m gonna become a health freak. The longer you live, the more Apple products you can buy.

  21. My stand ring doesn’t work, it says I’ve been standing for like 11 hours, but I haven’t stood up at all today yet

  22. So does the calorie goal mean that’s how many you want to burn an hour? And the total is for the entire day?

  23. Can anyone tell me what the total hours mean under the exercise graph. I get the total calories and the idle hours but the total hours is still a mystery 😂
