Gov't Shouldn't Decide Our Diets

Gov't Shouldn't Decide Our Diets

because Americans are so fat its government's job to help us eat better changing old habits is never easy no it's not so the first lady says to change behavior it's gonna take government doing its part if Michelle Obama wants to inspire us by exercising on the White House lawn that's great but government doing its part usually means force this is nothing to do with banning your ability to buy as much as many sugary drinks as you want simply the size of the cup that can be used in my hometown the mayor's upset about big cups of soda he wants cups this size made illegal this is the single biggest step any city I think has ever taken to curb obesity please I can still buy two of these that's 32 ounces or I can go to a supermarket buy one of these monsters how does this curb obesity my mayor is also proud that he's forced every chain restaurant to clearly post calorie count there they are there were more than a few skeptics but today both reforms are recognized as national models sadly that's true under Obamacare all big chains will now have to post calorie counts even though they don't work a study by professors at New York University and Yale tracked customers at McDonald's Wendy's Burger King and Kentucky Fried Chicken they found half the customers noticed the calorie counts and some said it influenced their ordering but when researchers checked receipts they found people ordered more calories the author of the food police Jayson Lusk studied that – what we find as those labels really don't change behavior at all so what you're what you're doing is asking companies to undertake a cost that has essentially no benefit to the consumer it's a sign of a government that's willing to step into your daily food choices even though they know it won't work for the sole reason of creating a symbol I mean what kind of government is that an intrusive one in my state the legislature most eager to ban foods and require that those signs be posted is Felix Ortiz it didn't work they've tested it in fact they ate more well I'm I'm disagree with with that now he's going after salt the ban of salt in the restaurants in the state of New York too much salt is bad for some people people with hypertension or some other problems but there's no evidence that it's harmful to most of us in fact some studies show that reduced salt intake among some segments of the population actually increased the chances of death so because you shouldn't have salt I can't have salt it's based on the statistics that is coming from our own CDC people maybe 20% of the people but not everybody hold the cheeseburgers across the pond in Europe Denmark is becoming the first country in the world to impose a fat tax some members of the food police say consumers should pay more to buy less healthy food the chattering class loved what Denmark did Denmark has decided to implement what they're calling a fat tax basically you go to the supermarket we buy a food that has above a certain level of fat they charge you extra alright do we feel good about this definitely the fat tax passed the Danish Parliament overwhelmingly but Danes just switched to cheaper food that was just as unhealthy or across the border to shop a neighboring country within one year Denmark repealed its fat tax so far it's American boosters haven't mentioned them so I wish they repealed it as they've repeal it I think they're making a big mistake on repealing well they tried it for year they tried your dumb idea for a year and they said oh my goodness bad idea I believe he's a great idea other great ideas from the food police or Texas on candy or fast food how do you define a fast food you can go to McDonald's you can order a salad or you can order a Big Mac both of those are fast food you can bet that the lobbyists are gonna be on the table when we make those rules as to what a fast food is Illinois is that a similar problem at its candy Tex what exactly is candy the bureaucrats decided this Hershey bar is taxable candy but this Hershey bar isn't because it contains flour store clerks don't know what to char in our bonus we have flour sugar eggs salts katie rosenhouse is dessert won an award on the Food Network don't you think you're poisoning people you're making everybody know we asked her to make donuts without the so-called bad stuff the healthy version I made today has no sugar no salt very little fat it's not fried it's baked showing you how different dessert can be without all the good stuff the good stuff is egg whites that's good egg yolks well people mind the difference let's try a taste test we got a healthy doughnut and a regular doughnut almost everyone like the regular don't and how about the other one I wanted to like the healthy Dona it's like eating bread not what I'm looking for in a doughnut some people did like the healthier version that's baked taste is subjective so it's good that people have choices and we're trying to keep you alternative an option where you can make better choices where do you get off saying you're giving us more choice you're baiting things you're giving us less choice well let me just say after you absolutely right and trying to ban throw stuff that is not good for the consumer you're a bully well yeah I've been calling worse what business is it of yours what I put in my own body isn't that part of freedom you can have the freedom but when it come down to the healthcare cost then we need to tackle them and if we are not into healthy lifestyle government will be blamed for not doing the right thing so because government is responsible because we have a socialized health care system you get to take away my freedom I think what I'm trying to do is to help you to have a better life you're like a cancer you're spreading a bad thing that costs a lot of money it doesn't do any good and I am a good cancer who providing good healthy advice for the best public health of our country

  1. Ever since Michele Obama decided what our children should eat in school, my kids refuse to eat school lunches. In fact, Iโ€™ve not met a single child who likes school lunch. There is absolutely no appeal. I really doubt itโ€™s actually healthy. Iโ€™ve had kids share with me that their cafeteria milk on many days has an expired fresh date. Take away: donโ€™t let anyone else decide what is best for you unless they are your parents.

  2. I thought that deer (venison)WAS FAST FOOD!๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜and The lebatards can๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—my ass.

  3. Posting calories doesn't do any good because most people are stupid the best majority of people don't know how many calories they should have in a day so 12000 calories on that's good for lunch that sounds about right. The more calories you can get for a dollar the better deal

  4. The arrogance, " I'm HELPING you to make better choices.. " This guy doesn't know me. All this can be fixed cheaper. Get the government out of healthcare, .. . completely.

  5. Gov't will make the choice of your diet because with State-run healthcare, they will be looking for ways to keep expenditures to a minimum (medical expenditures not bureaucratic expenditures).ย  When the gov't gets involved, they issue diktats.ย  That's the long and short of it.ย  Remember what Ronald Reagan said:ย  "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help" are the nine scariest words you will ever hear.

  6. When I order a big Mac calorie count is the last thing I look at. As a matter of fact it looks like a bunch of jumbled numbers.

  7. The part every one missed at the end is the caveat of a socialized healthcare system that limits freedom he even admitted it

  8. If people get charged a fat tax, then they should be charged a fugly tax. That's fair.

How about the idiots in government mind their own damn business?

  9. What next? Controlling our personal thoughts? Who we fall in love with? When we should go to sleep? Get the fuck out of my life already goddamn it.

  10. The government needs to stop giving subsidies to the sugar industry, the dairy industry, and the meat industry. Let McDonald's make their servings as big as they want, but I've got news for you, if the subsidies go away, NO ONE is going to want to pay for a $16 Coke, and a $25 Big Mac. So let the freedom shine bright, and let restaurants serve WHATEVER they want, but quit allowing the industries to game the system with all these subsidies!!! The economics will decide for us.

  11. I donโ€™t know what study theyโ€™re talking about. Iโ€™ve found the calorie listings to be very helpful!

  12. Yeah I got to agree with that if I wanted to party all my life I can't expect the government to help me out at the end

  13. I've been on a lot of Crews I seen some good leaders bring stupid people doing good work I seen a lot of bad leaders lose a lot of good people

  14. One thing I've learned if you got a corrupt government you going to have corrupt people that don't give a

  15. When you go to vote I think you are too clearly post the history and definitely honestly of who you're voting for

  16. Why is it that so many politicians, largely liberal, think the only solution is government intervention for our own good? Then they want to ignore the Danish experiment (no pun intended)? Bad ideas and bad policy are still bad no matter where you are in the world. "I'm a good cancer", WTF!!!! What kind of a statement is that???? Regardless of the type of cancer, it is still a disease.

  17. Do they not understand that overpopulation in the world is the greatest danger to the planet. We should promote risky behavior not forbid it. smoking, eating to much, less exercise, more wars, no speed limit, all are good because all of them reduce the population and as a side effect it will cost less in retirement funds.

  18. Simple caloric intake is the mainstay of negative health effects of bad diets. A tax based on calories could be used to subsidize healthcare. That way the ones using the most healthcare as a result of their diet, which is the majority of health problems in the U.S., would be paying the most for their own care. Same goes for tobacco and alcohol. Tax the root of the problems to pay for their solutions.

  19. And don't forget that gov's guidelines make Americans obese in a first place (Ansel Keys hi carb no fat diet).

  20. that was horrifying. …but then I remembered how in Soviet Union there was no food in the stores macaroni spaghetti shells )) maybe some canned …crap and lots of bread …in the mornings only …milk ok , no meat for meat you had to know someone who knew someone …..and vertiually no medical care ( free means very very little ) surgery …you had to know someone who knows someone …and not after 65 , people don't live that king ..they make sure of that

  21. This should not be about polรญtics. We don't want the government to dictate on our food habits, but it government does not do anything then we'll ask why is the government not doing anything about this. We are just never satisfied with anything. Oh well.

  22. First lady? You sure about that? Just wait…if 'single payer' ever gets enacted, you'll be told what to eat or drink, or your 'free' healthcare could be limited or denied due to your 'unhealthy' lifestyle.

  23. The only thing that can change this is the demand of consumers. The more they demand fast food the more fast food restaurants there will be. And the opposite is true. The solution is just raising awareness, as for how bad being overweight is for health.
