How to Care for Cats : Cat Care Tips: Obese Vs. Thin

If one cat in your household is thin and the
other cat in your household is overweight, that can present a feeding challenge. There
are a couple of things that you can do if that’s the case. Definitely I would recommend
feeding meals to both the cats because if there’s any food left around for the cats
to nibble on, the overweight cat is probably going to go over and eat more than the thin
cat will. So, you want to feed meals to both the cats, you may actually want to feed two
different types of a diet, a high protein high calorie diet for the thinner cat. Sometimes
you want to supplement them with some extra canned food, which they can eat more quickly
and get more calories, without taking more time to eat. Then you may want to have a lower
calorie weight loss food for your overweight cat so he can have the same quantity to eat
and just take in fewer calories. If there’s a very serious situation, one of the tricks
you can do is to feed the cats in separate rooms so you can allow the thinner cat to
have plenty of time to eat, and eat what it needs to, while the overweight cat is in a
separate room not able to bully the thin cat out of the way.
