Introducing Carbohydrates — Tennis Conditioning Episode 4

Hi, I am Philipp Halfmann. I am the Director
of tennis and strength and conditioning at FIT2HIT, and I work with professional athletes
for a living. Today I want to talk a little bit today about
carbohydrates. Did you ever feel sluggish or almost passed
out during a match? That’s because your blood sugar dropped and
you didn’t have enough CARBS in your system. There are 3 forms of Carbohydrates, which
depends on the length of the carbohydrate molecule: 1. Monosaccharides
2. Disaccharides 3. Polysaccharides Monosaccharides are also known as “simple
sugars”, which is basically glucose, also known as “blood sugar”. Of course, there is also fructose and galactose
but who cares. Then there are disaccharides, which basically
are 2 monosaccharides put together. And last but not least, we have polysaccharides,
which are numerous monosaccharides put together. They are also sometimes referred to as “complex
carbohydrates”. Glycogen, starches, and fibers belong to this category. That’s it! Well, that’s it again for today’s episode.
As usual, opinions can differ. What’s your point of view? Let us know below
