The 49th Union World Conference on Lung Health in The Hague

the union conference is really noted for networking this is our 49 iteration of this event and it's important because this is where the entire global tuberculosis community in the world comes together the union is a scientific organization that was founded in 1920 and we deal obviously with tuberculosis but also address lung health around the world especially the cessation of tobacco so it's something that again everything that we do is try to be evidence-based we have a very strong relationship with the Netherlands to our sister organization called K and C V so the first time we have this was in 1932 when Queen Emma actually opened the conference in addition we had another conference in 1967 also here in the Netherlands and so this is the third time that we're having this conference here we've been able to use the space here at the world forum and in many different ways obviously it's an exhibition space so we have all our exhibitors are from around the world doing that our delegates can go to the meeting and I think what's really interesting here the first time I've ever seen it is this vitality where we have a group of people that are trying to keep us healthy taking us on runs taking us for a walk making sure that you eat healthily so that's something that I've never seen at a conference venue so that's been that's been absolutely wonderful The Hague Convention Bureau has been absolutely fabulous in helping and this conference they were able to buy shuttle service boot from the train station they were actually very very very helpful and just stealing would be the infrastructure issues that sometimes get neglected in the conference oh I think was very well and the other thing this is the branding of the conference here at the city was very very welcoming it's not something that we actually seem very very often made this event really special it's the real connection between the theme of our conference which is about social justice and the fact that the city of The Hague is known as a city of peace and justice so having that connection and the fact that it was also linked with our high-level meeting that we had last year not my high-level meeting but the United Nations high-level meeting was was also very important so the kind of the three things coming together is makes made it a whole package for us in tuberculosis work you
