1. Anyone else notice that the two plant-based doctor’s at the end looked thinner than the first two doctors? I don’t think that’s coincidence.

  2. big money has been talking for 3 hours. I took one thing away….don't buy a diet. Just eat right. cook your own food from scratch. avoid sugar as much as you can. veggies, fruits, good fats, nuts, seeds, and occasionally some high quality grassfed beef. small fish, such as sardines, laugh a lot, enjoy your friends, and you will just be fine. don't worry so much about the details. variety is the spice of life. avoid drugs, alcohol. OCCASIONALLY go out to eat, and once in a blue moon, a bite of ice cream or cake won't kill ya. …………..and I do not need a medical degree for that. my grandma knew better. anyone WANTING to eat right, WILL.

  3. No matter what diet you follow you can always find outliers that have problems with that way of eating…..there are individual differences and body defects that can be corrected and polymorphisms that may not be
corrected…..I wish that those in this debate would state any religious beliefs that would prevent them from eating certain foods like meat…….The bad breath with Keto? LOL, you don''t hear that today….

  4. A 25 year vegetarian Stanford Uni professor did a study 10 years after this and Atkins trashed the Ornish diet on cardiovascular markers. this is him presenting it https://youtu.be/eREuZEdMAVo?t=1379 .The Atkins diet also lost the most weight compared to the other diets, including Ornish. short-cut to that and the professor presenting it. The anthropology is absolutely clear: we are carnivores by preference. Vegetables are famine food. All the modern chronic illnesses arrived with agriculture. You people are delusional vegetarians believing utter nonsense.

  5. Disband the USDA…look at the road we’ve been led down by them…sorry – youve got blood on your hands…

I doubt I can stomach listening thru this intro…

  6. Low carb side won by miles they know what they are talking about for sure i went from 400 pound to 260 better health then ever.

  7. Mcdougall is an idiot! Has no scientific facts so he uses anecdotal nonsense! Anyone who believes fish have a greater glycemic index than white pasta is a fool!
The Japanese he speaks of, they don’t eat any processed sugar, they don’t eat all day long, and they are calorie restricted naturally. Stop listening to this idiot people! Don’t believe me, read the research!
The stomach exercise shows how idiotic he is. Satiety is a chemical phenomenon, and has nothing to do with stretch receptors in the stomach.

  8. I'm diabetic, and I don't care what the answer is, I just want to know what to eat, so I'm doing my homework. I'm a scientist (a physicist) and became an atheist about 6-years ago now. While I was losing my religion, I debated a lot of hysterical, sanctemonous, self-righteous zealots who's world view is constructed on the basis of motivated reasoning. I have seen nothing like those people until I started reading the comments of the self-certain, sanctimonious vegan/vegetarian/whole plant diet zealots on nutritional videos.

Maybe the answer is a plant-based whole food diet, and maybe it isn't. I don't know because the research isn't there yet. If you think it is—it's only because you are scientifically illiterate. Yes, I've read Dr. Campbell. Yes, he makes errors in the conclusions he draws from his data.

  9. When was this held?? Most of then healthy looking doctors look like zombies now due to premature aging caused by their advocated diet…Most of these guys have proven the self wrong by their health looks now…

“1. We live in a nation where Doctors destroy health,

    2. Lawyers destroy justice,

    3. Universities destroy knowledge,

    4. Governments destroy freedom,

    5. The press destroys information,

    6. Religion destroy morals,

    7. And our banks destroy the economy. "

  11. Low carb diet nonsense failed misribley! Corporate "experts" are losing. We the people have listened to them for too long and they failed us.

  12. Sugar Busters was created by H. Leighton Steward, Sam S. Andrews, Morrison C. Bethea, and Luis A. Balart.
The diet is classified as a fad diet, and though its results compare with those of other low-calorie diets, it brings an increased risk of heart disease.[3] via Wikipedia

  13. Died Young history of heart disease
    Robert AtkinsBorn Robert Coleman Atkins

    October 17, 1930

    Columbus, Ohio, U.S.

    Died April 17, 2003 (aged 72)

New York City, New York, U.S. "In 2002 he had a heart attack, leading many of his critics to point to this episode as proof of the inherent dangers in the consumption of high levels of saturated fat associated with the Atkins diet. In numerous interviews, however, Atkins stated that his cardiac arrest was not the result of poor diet, but was rather caused by a chronic infection.[7][8][9]

Atkins died on April 17, 2003, at the age of 72.[2] Nine days prior to his death, Atkins fell and hit his head on an icy New York sidewalk. At New York's Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was admitted on April 8, he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain but went into a coma and died from complications. He spent nine days in intensive care before dying on April 17, 2003.[10][11]

A medical report issued by the New York medical examiner's office a year after his death showed that Atkins had a history of heart attack, congestive heart failure and hypertension.[ via Wikipedia

  14. Funny how Dr. John McDougall stood up to give his presentation, while sickly lying fatso Dr. Atkins, couldn't even stand up to see his slides… i guess those ketones weren't working for him that day LOL

  15. Eighteen years later, McDougall, Ornish and Bernard are all alive… Dr. heart-attack Atkins is DEAD… that should tell you enough about his "low carb" and keto diets LOL
I guess "36 years" of keto diets couldn't save Dr. Fatso Atkins from getting heart attacks and dying like a dog, LOL
According to the WSJ, "A medical examiner's report on the death of diet guru Dr. Robert Atkins suggests that he had a history of heart attack, congestive heart failure and hypertension."

  16. When McDougall said " the fat you eat is the fat you wear"

I may have lower body fat than him and it's 50% of my diet.

For a Doctor he says unscientific things.

  17. Thievy do not think that We .need to follow The wisdom from animal way of eating: The bears are fat eaters living in The podes they go into
internaron for 6 months thanks to The diets. The meat eaters animales arre The high. Proteín dieters they do not get fat The elephants áreas a
Vegetariana therefore each way of eating Is good The only mis take is The way humans eat Smixing carbohydrates fast and Proteins together

  18. Gurus vs. physicians…unbiased in titling of this debate?!!!  Very sad commentary on the USDA…as far as I can see, all the participants were physicians!

  19. I almost felt sorry for Dr.Atkins when the other doctor asked incredulously about Atkins not having the money to fund studies to back his diet book claims. LOL. Yes Dr. Atkins, 10 million dollars or more in book sales could barely even fund a high school research study, we know… When someone cannot produce long term research findings (over at least 10 years or more), you should be a little skeptical. A doctor who is not just in it for the money should want to volunteer such findings to prove their case, instead of just going on anecdotal testimonies. If after knowing that there are no such long term research on the effectiveness and safety of a diet, you still want to follow it, then go for it and good luck. Always be skeptical of diets that tell you what is easy on the ears to hear.

  20. @1.23 a claim is made that all these diets cut calories. Atkins went first and one of the first things we heard was that on Atkins you can increase the calorie count and still lose weight. He then says their science is backwards, you don't make claims then ask for studies. Actually, I think that's exactly how it works in many, many instances. From Astronomy and Quantum Physics to Archeology. I don't see why this should be different. And the moderator is an idiot.

  21. They act like the low carbers only eat meet and never get any benefit from eating vegetables. I’m low carb but eat 90% vegetables. And the rest meat and diary. I tried many times going vegan even low carb vegan and it exasperated my diabetic symptoms. I want to believe mcdougall with all my heart but after many times of trying low fat, high carb, I could not continue eating the starches. They where kicking my ass. I got every diabetic symptom in the book.
