What is Inflammation? Naturally Transform Chronic Pain, Feel Younger And Have More Energy



hey guys it's dr. Matt Lyon I'm excited to be with you today today we're gonna talk about information what it is why it's so pervasive in our society and what you can do about it so there's tons information out there I particularly like anything that comes from Johns Hopkins this was a really cool article and and basically the punchline of this article is that while we're still studying we know we know that it leads to chronic degenerative diseases if it is unchecked so guys let's talk really simply about what inflammation is so inflammation is great it's in your body to help you fend off things that are trying to hurt you such as a virus or bacteria or say a parasite it's there to mobilize resources to neutralize or destroy things that would hurt you right so that's its job the immune system acts during allergy season if you live in a place where there's a lot of grass or tree palpable why is that because these pollens these proteins get in your body and your body says hey that's not part of me and so if it's it creates a bit of an inflammatory response when people have hyper inflammation you'll see they have sort of out of balance and flama Tory reactions we call them allergies and so when we take antihistamines for instance that's a medicine that neutralizes histamines which are a product of inflammation so inflammation also occurs in our bodies to help us repair tissues a good example is if you sprain your ankle you're had that terrible feeling your ankle swells over that's inflammation and that's your body galvanizing resources and chemicals themselves to basically flush the system out and lay down new tissue this weekend my daughter she's so sweet she slammed her finger in the car door and immediately she had that terrible terrible inflammatory response of course she's seven years old so as I explained to her that this is all really natural normal she didn't quite get it she was on a lot of payment that's a short-term immune response and those are great things to help us now long-term here's where inflammation goes bad either it goes on too long and it goes on too long and it's like a smoldering fire and so it produces these various inflammatory chemicals circulating through our body cytokines – necrosis factor varies interleukins just a lot of things in there and it's a complex system but basically they erode in degrade the system they break it down that caused degeneration and that's why inflammation leads to degenerative disease diseases such as cardiovascular disease Alzheimers hyperlipidemia autoimmune disorders gut dysfunction we even know that it might contribute to depression anxiety allergies obsessive compulsive disorder attention deficit disorder any where there's inflammation it will create dysfunction and so that's kind of what inflammation is the problem is not inflammation the problem is is that going on too long isn't it going a place it shouldn't be for example autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus these are where our own immune system attacks our own tissues it's like our immune system confuses a protein and our knee joint with a protein that it wants out of the body so just like it might attack a virus it attacked your knee and that's what autoimmune disease does and that's the in autoimmune treatment most of the medications that we would use are going to be slow the immune system down which kind of makes sense on one level but long term we want a much more global solution that doesn't have all the negative side effects of putting the brakes on your immune system so that's what inflammation is that's where it goes wrong and the question is why well there's a number of reasons why first the standard American modern American diet is just not good for you there's a couple things wrong there first we eat a hundred and fifty pounds of sugar per person per year Wow totally an inflammatory injection of Sisson next the average person reads 133 to 150 pounds of refined flour per year can you imagine think of all the bags of it all pro-inflammatory junk processed junk we're putting in our body that is like gasoline on a fire that's barks that inflammatory cascade big-time net add on to that we were sold a lie that vegetable fats and trans fats and partially hydrogenated fats are actually somehow good for you now most people know that trans fats are bad I think most of us have caught up to that now but if you look in most anything you're gonna see canola oil sunflower oil that different vegetable oils all of which oxidizing your body the extremely rapid rate causing global information even I go to one of the top health food stores in the nation and I go to their food bar and then look at the ingredients on most thing greed it's canola oil it's right up there the top ingredients some of the top salad dressings from health food companies when you look at the ingredients you see canola oil partially hydrogenated sunflower oil I mean it's insane and these are incredible toxic things that we're getting every day in ways that our audio is never designed to handle now add on to that environmental pollution in many cities there's over 1,000 toxic chemicals that you breathe it every day so the body begins to take on a load that it can't handle so the system never gets a chance to slow down the number three factor is that we are stressed most people are stressed and they're burning the candle at both ends and their nervous system ratchets up in to the part of it that's that get up and go galvanized fight-or-flight response that's pro-inflammatory we don't get enough time to relax and rest and digest and renew and regenerate which is the other side of the system that's one of the gifts I want to give you at the end of this video this is why information Pecha weights it's really really important there's one more piece that I need you to know and I'm sure you notice but we are a sedentary society we sit Lots and when you're not moving your body's not groove and an inflammation is going to increase it to make it simple you can think of this stress that causes inflammation is really coming from three dimensions of stress or the three DS of stress physical stress oh you're moving right your postures not right you've got unresolved aches and pains – chemical stress what are we eating what are we drinking what are we breathing in and third is unresolved emotional mental stress and when those are out of balance we're out of balance let me give you a couple tools that I gave to people my clients for years that would help now granted I did a lot of functional laboratory testing tons of history to help people break the chains of inflammation and we use diet we use supplements when you structural alignment using meditation use breathing techniques a lot of stuff we did to help people recover from chronic pain and chronic inflammation but two things that you can do that are free the only thing that's going to be required of you is your time and your attention and your energy and I would say your intention intention one is walked you can walk 60 minutes a day we are designed to walk that much or more per day it's good for your brain good for your joints good for your heart good for your mood it's great for information to is if you can I want you to do deep breathing with eyes closed I just relaxed diaphragmatic breathing in the morning for five minutes in the evening for five minutes if you want to look up something up that's really useful look up box breathing we breathe in for four whole tour for breathe
